The club was formed in 1964, and joined the Bury and
District League, before switching to the Colchester
League in 1971. In 1978 the club moved again, this
time to the Essex and Suffolk Border League. In the
1988-89 season the club won both the league and
league cup, and were promoted to the Eastern
Counties League first division.
Cornard United won the first division at the first
attempt, and were promoted to the Premier Division,
where they remained until 1996, when they finished
bottom and were relegated. For the 2008-09 season,
they are playing in the Eastern Counties League
Division One. The club has been managed by Chris Symes since the mid-1990s.
